PHILIP SMITH

Phil has worked as a senior creative across a number of areas, including writer, director, animator, visual effects artist, designer, illustrator and now company director and producer.

As a writer Phil has written for broadcast television in the children’s animation space. He has written several feature films that have been optioned by leading producers and production companies. Phil’s writing has also been a semi-finalist in the prestigious Academy Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship.

As a director, Phil’s shorts have played and won awards at many international film festivals as well as being sold and broadcast on network television in Australia and overseas.

As an animator and visual effects artist, Phil has worked on TVC’s for international clients as well as creating titles and visual effects on various short form and online content.

Before working in film and television, Phil spent a number of years as a creative director leading a team of artists and designers producing content for international clients across publishing, interactive and exhibitions.

As a producer, Phil is developing a number of projects through his company, ElectroPuppet. ElectroPuppet also provide animation services and create assets for clients all over the world. These include leading education websites, universities, television networks, YouTube and social media creators and blue chip corporations.

Phil holds a Bachelor of Design, (First Class Honours) from the University of Western Sydney and a Master of Arts in Film and Television specialising in Digital Media from the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS). His student films can be seen below.
